Skill Stars (1-5)
Staff are hired at 1-3 stars. Each star improves their performance:
- Receptionist: better lead conversion (+6% per star)
- Community Manager: covers 5 more members per star
- Cleaner: covers 40 more tiles per star
- Events Manager: event revenue scales +6% per star
Training costs $600 per course (+1 star, +8 morale). Mentors learn for half ($300). Maximum 5 stars.
Salary scales: base × (1 + 0.06 × (skill - 1)) × (1 + 0.08 × raises).
The Coworkies.com Job Board
Instead of blind hires, you browse 3 candidates per role on the job board. Candidates refresh every 4 days. Each shows their name, skill stars, asking salary, and personality trait. You can wait for a better batch or hire immediately.
Staff Morale (0-100)
Morale drifts based on workload:
- Overworked (load > 1.0): morale drops up to -2.5/day
- Underworked: morale recovers +0.8/day
- Staff Room: reduces overwork morale loss by 30%
- Staff Room with sofa/armchair: +0.5/day passive recovery
- Staff Room (basic): +0.2/day passive recovery
Raises
Give a permanent +8% salary raise for an instant +18 morale boost. Use when morale dips toward the danger zone.
Staff Personality Traits
~65% of hires come with a personality trait that changes how they work:

| Ray of Sunshine | Mood drifts up +0.5/day on its own. Never counts as grumpy around members (exempt from the -3 penalty). |
| Hustler | Works as if 1 star higher, but burns out 30% faster (morale loss ×1.3). |
| Rock Steady | Morale never drops below 40. They never quit. |
| Night Owl | No night-shift premium. Gains +0.6 morale/day on the night shift. |
| Mentor | Training costs half ($300 instead of $600). |
| Diva | +2 effective stars when morale ≥80. -1 star when morale <50. Brilliant when happy, awful when not. |
Night Shifts
In scenarios with nightlife, you can assign staff to the night shift. Night shift workers are on duty when it's dark and go home during the day.
- Night shift premium: +10% salary (except Night Owl trait)
- Having a night concierge on duty gives +3 satisfaction in scenarios with nightlife + access control
Industry Training Events
Send staff to off-site events for skill boosts and major morale recovery. They're away (off coverage) for the event duration.
